SARUA has done pioneering work in mapping the status and profile of the higher education sector within the SADC, including country profiles. The results of the first such project were published in 2012. Details of the publications are available below.
The need for an up-to-date regional profile of the higher education landscape in SADC was confirmed with members of both South African ministerial delegations at the meeting of SADC Ministers responsible for Education and Training and Science, Technology and Innovation, held in Swaziland in 2017. SARUA has developed an initial proposal for the development of the regional higher education profile and plans to commence with work on the profile during 2018. The profile should be an invaluable resource for higher education policymakers, planners, and researchers, as well as for students and stakeholders in the public sector and industry.
